Ruth Chooses to Stay — a 5-minute devotion for Puerto Plata families
Ruth 1 · Loyalty that costs something
After losing everything, Naomi told her daughters-in-law to go home. Ruth refused, promising to stay with her, in her land, with her God. She walked into a foreign country with nothing but that promise.
Use this one on the Puerto Plata weekend, when there is room for a longer conversation. Read Ruth 1, talk through the question properly, then write the memory verse somewhere everyone will see it on Monday.
Memory verse
“Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay.”Ruth 1:16
Table question
Who in our family needs you to stay close this week?
30-second prayer
God, make us loyal like Ruth — the kind of people who stay. Amen.
Make it stick: pick one person in Puerto Plata — a neighbour, a grandparent, a classmate — and do the thing the story asks for before Sunday. Loyalty that costs something only counts once it costs something.
Tomorrow: Ruth in the harvest field (Ruth 2). ArkQuest queues the next reading automatically, so nobody has to decide what comes after tonight.
On Mount Carmel, Elijah rebuilt an altar of twelve stones before calling on the Lord. What did the twelve stones represent?
