Mary Says Yes — a 5-minute devotion for Usa River families

Luke 1:26-38 · An ordinary yes to an impossible thing

An angel told a young woman in an ordinary town that she would carry the Son of God. She asked one honest question, then answered with her whole life: let it be to me as you have said.

Parents in Usa River often ask what to do when siblings are years apart in age. Read Luke 1:26-38 together, then split the question: ask the younger child what happened in the story, and ask the older one why "an ordinary yes to an impossible thing" is harder than it sounds.

Memory verse

“I am the Lord's servant. May your word to me be fulfilled.”
Luke 1:38

Table question

What is God asking you to say yes to this week?

30-second prayer

God, give us Mary's yes — honest questions first, then obedience. Amen.

Make it stick: on the way through Usa River tomorrow, one person says the first half of "I am the Lord's servant. May your word to me be fulfilled." and someone else finishes it. Three tries and it is memorised.

Tomorrow: Mary visits Elizabeth (Luke 1:39-56). ArkQuest queues the next reading automatically, so nobody has to decide what comes after tonight.
