Daniel in the Lions' Den — a 5-minute devotion for Mykolaiv families
Daniel 6 · Faithfulness when it costs something
A new law made praying to God illegal. Daniel opened his window, knelt down and prayed anyway, three times a day, just as he always had. He was thrown to the lions — and in the morning he was unharmed.
Use this one on the Mykolaiv weekend, when there is room for a longer conversation. Read Daniel 6, talk through the question properly, then write the memory verse somewhere everyone will see it on Monday.
Memory verse
“My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions.”Daniel 6:22
Table question
What is one habit you want to keep even when nobody would notice if you stopped?
30-second prayer
God, give us Daniel's steadiness — the kind that keeps praying when it is inconvenient. Amen.
Make it stick: draw it. Younger children draw the moment in Daniel 6 they remember; older ones write one sentence about why it bothered them. Stick both on the wall.
Tomorrow: the fiery furnace (Daniel 3). ArkQuest queues the next reading automatically, so nobody has to decide what comes after tonight.
On Mount Carmel, Elijah rebuilt an altar of twelve stones before calling on the Lord. What did the twelve stones represent?
