Noah and the Long Wait — a 5-minute devotion for Long Beach families

Genesis 6-9 · Obedience that outlasts the waiting

Noah built a boat for years while people laughed. The rain came, the water rose, and the family waited for months inside. When the dove came back with an olive leaf, they knew the waiting was nearly done.

Use this one on the Long Beach weekend, when there is room for a longer conversation. Read Genesis 6-9, talk through the question properly, then write the memory verse somewhere everyone will see it on Monday.

Memory verse

“I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant.”

Genesis 9:13

Table question

What are you waiting for right now, and how can we wait well together?

30-second prayer

Faithful God, we are not good at waiting. Teach us to keep building while we wait. Amen.

Make it stick: let a child read Genesis 6-9 out loud tomorrow instead of you. Reading it to the family is worth ten times hearing it.

Tomorrow: the tower of Babel (Genesis 11:1-9). ArkQuest queues the next reading automatically, so nobody has to decide what comes after tonight.
