Family Devotions on Fear and Anxiety: 5 Verses Kids Can Reach For

Anxious kids don't need a lecture. They need a verse they can find in the dark. This plan gives them five.
The five verses
Psalm 56:3, Isaiah 41:10, 1 Peter 5:7, Philippians 4:6–7, 2 Timothy 1:7. One verse a week, five weeks. Same verse repeated every night for a week.
The bedtime rhythm
When they name a fear at bedtime, don't fix it. Say: *God is bigger than that. Say the verse with me.* Repeat the verse three times, slowly. Then pray one sentence.
Making it portable
Write the verse on an index card they can keep in a pocket, a backpack, or under a pillow. Portable Scripture is how kids self-soothe with the Word. More ideas in our [pillar family devotions guide](https://getarkquest.com/blog/family-devotional-ideas).
Frequently asked questions
Should we still see a professional if a kid is very anxious?
Yes. Verses and prayer sit alongside professional care, not instead of it. The two are teammates, not rivals.
Is it okay for parents to say 'I get anxious too'?
Yes. It's the most helpful thing you can say. Then say the verse with them and out loud pray for both of you.
