Family Devotions on Kindness: 3 Weeks of Small Real-World Practices

An open Bible next to a coffee mug and bowl of cereal on a sunlit breakfast table

Kindness that stays in the family devotion binder isn't kindness. This three-week plan pushes it out the door.

Week 1 — kindness at home

Read Ephesians 4:32 nightly. Everyone picks one sibling or family member to secretly serve that day. Debrief kindly at bedtime.

Week 2 — kindness to a neighbor

Read Luke 10:25–37 (Good Samaritan). Each family member picks one neighbor to bless — a card, cookies, a lawn mowed, a groceries-in run.

Week 3 — kindness to a stranger

Read Matthew 25:34–40. Do one family act of kindness for someone you don't know. Talk about how it felt. Then fold kindness into your [ongoing family devotion rhythm](https://getarkquest.com/blog/family-devotional-ideas).

Frequently asked questions

Isn't this just moralism?

Not if it stays connected to the gospel — *we love because he first loved us.* Do the verse before the mission every single week.

What if a mission flops?

Great. Debrief it. Kids need to see that trying to bless someone doesn't always land — and that we do it anyway because Jesus did.
