Sunday School at Home — A 30-Minute Weekly Plan That Works

A family gathered around a coffee table with a Bible, coloring pages and mugs

Whether your family is between churches, homeschooling, or just wants a weekly rhythm at home, Sunday School at home doesn't need to be complicated.

Here's a 30-minute plan any parent can run — no seminary degree required.

Minute 0–5: Gather. Light a candle, pour something warm. Do the same thing every week; kids anchor to ritual.

Minute 5–15: The story. Read one Bible story out loud. Use a kid-friendly translation. Don't rush. Ask, "What surprised you?" and "What did you notice about God?"

Minute 15–20: The memory verse. Pick one short verse tied to the story. Say it three times together. Write it on a card for the fridge.

Minute 20–25: The craft or activity. Draw the scene. Act it out. Build it with Legos. The point isn't Pinterest — it's association.

Minute 25–30: The prayer. Each person prays one line. Younger kids can pray one word. Close with the Lord's Prayer.

Do this 45 weeks a year and your family will have covered the biggest 45 stories of the Bible by the time your youngest is 10.

If you want a story picked for you, ArkQuest's daily quests plus this weekly rhythm work great together — quests run Monday–Saturday, Sunday School at home on Sunday.
