Genesis 6–9 · Ages 4–10
Noah's Ark
God asked Noah to build a giant boat to keep his family and the animals safe from a great flood — and God kept every promise he made.
Big idea
God keeps his promises, even when we have to wait.
Read-aloud
1. A hard job from God
Noah lived when people had forgotten God. God told Noah to build an ark — a boat bigger than a football field — even though there was no rain and no ocean nearby. Noah obeyed for years and years.
2. Two by two
God sent animals of every kind to the ark. Noah's family loaded food, and when everyone was inside, God himself shut the door.
3. Rain, rain, rain
Water covered the whole earth. Noah's family and the animals were safe inside because they trusted God's plan.
4. A rainbow promise
When the water went down, Noah stepped onto dry land and thanked God. God set a rainbow in the sky and promised he'd never flood the whole earth again.
Memory verse
“By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household.”
— Hebrews 11:7
Talk about it
- What's something God has asked you to do that felt hard?
- How do you feel when you see a rainbow now?
- How can our family obey God this week — even when it's slow?
Family prayer
God, thank you for keeping your promises. Help us trust you when things feel long or scary. Amen.
