Genesis 22 · Ages 7–12
Abraham's Big Trust Test
God asked Abraham to trust him with the one thing he loved most — and provided a rescue at the last second.
Big idea
God can be trusted with the things you love the most.
Read-aloud
1. A hard ask
God told Abraham to take his son Isaac up a mountain and offer him as a sacrifice. Abraham didn't understand — but he obeyed.
2. The long walk
For three days they walked. Isaac carried the wood. He asked, 'Father, where is the lamb?' Abraham said, 'God will provide.'
3. On the mountain
Abraham built an altar. Just as he raised the knife, an angel called out: 'Stop! Now I know you trust God with everything.'
4. A ram in the bush
Abraham looked up — a ram was caught in a bush. God provided the sacrifice. Abraham named the place, 'The Lord Will Provide.'
Memory verse
“The Lord will provide.”
— Genesis 22:14
Talk about it
- What's something you'd find hard to give back to God?
- How does it feel to obey before you understand?
- When has God 'provided a ram' for our family?
Family prayer
God, we trust you with what matters most. Thank you for always providing. Amen.
