Genesis 1–2 · Ages 3–8
In the Beginning — Creation
In six days, God spoke the universe into being — and called it good.
Big idea
You are made on purpose, by a good God, for a good reason.
Read-aloud
1. God speaks
In the beginning, everything was dark and empty. Then God said, 'Let there be light' — and there was light.
2. Sky, land, sea
Day by day God separated water from sky, land from sea, and filled the earth with plants and fruit.
3. Sun, moon, animals
God set the sun, moon, and stars. He filled the sea with fish, the sky with birds, and the land with every kind of animal.
4. People
Then God made people — in his own image — to love him and take care of everything else. He said it was very good.
Memory verse
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”
— Genesis 1:1
Talk about it
- What's your favorite thing God made?
- What does it mean that you're made 'in God's image'?
- How can we take care of what God made this week?
