Joshua 6 · Ages 4–10
Joshua and the Walls of Jericho
God's people marched around a fortress city for seven days — and God knocked the walls flat.
Big idea
When God asks the strange thing, obey — the walls are his job.
Read-aloud
1. A locked-up city
Jericho had walls so thick chariots could race on top of them. It looked impossible to take.
2. God's odd plan
God told Joshua: march around the city once a day for six days. Priests carry the ark and blow trumpets.
3. Seven times on day 7
On the seventh day they marched around seven times. Then the trumpets blew and everyone shouted.
4. Walls fall down
The walls collapsed straight down. Israel walked in. God did what no army could.
Memory verse
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; the Lord your God is with you.”
— Joshua 1:9
Talk about it
- What 'wall' feels impossible to you right now?
- Has God ever asked you to obey when it didn't make sense?
- How can we cheer each other on to obey?
Family prayer
God, when the walls look too big, remind us that they're not ours to knock down. Amen.
