Acts 9 · Ages 7–12
Paul Meets Jesus on the Damascus Road
Jesus stopped his biggest enemy in the road with a blinding light — and turned him into his greatest missionary.
Big idea
No one is too far gone for Jesus to turn around.
Read-aloud
1. A dangerous man
Saul hated Christians. He was traveling to Damascus with warrants to arrest them.
2. Blinding light
On the road, a bright light knocked him to the ground. A voice said, 'Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? I am Jesus.'
3. Three blind days
Saul was blind for three days. God sent a Christian named Ananias — nervous but obedient — to pray for him. Saul saw again and was baptized.
4. A brand-new life
Saul (now called Paul) traveled the world telling everyone about Jesus and wrote much of the New Testament.
Memory verse
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17
Talk about it
- Who do you know who feels 'too far gone' for God?
- How could God use even our hard past for good?
- What might Jesus want to change in you?
Family prayer
Jesus, thank you that no one is out of reach. Change us, and use us like you did Paul. Amen.
