Acts 2 · Ages 6–12
The Holy Spirit Comes at Pentecost
Wind, fire, and a hundred languages — the Holy Spirit filled the church and 3,000 people believed in one day.
Big idea
God's Spirit still fills ordinary people to do God-sized things.
Read-aloud
1. Waiting together
Jesus had gone back to heaven. About 120 followers waited in a room in Jerusalem, praying together.
2. Wind and fire
Suddenly a sound like a rushing wind filled the house. Little flames of fire rested on each person. The Holy Spirit filled them all.
3. Every language
They spilled into the streets speaking languages they'd never learned. People from all over the world heard about Jesus in their own tongue.
4. The church is born
Peter preached. 3,000 people believed and were baptized that day. The church was born.
Memory verse
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.”
— Acts 1:8
Talk about it
- What does the Holy Spirit do in us today?
- What God-sized thing might God want our family to do?
- How can we invite the Spirit to fill us this week?
Family prayer
Holy Spirit, fill us like you filled the church at Pentecost. Use our family. Amen.
