Luke 2:1–20 · Ages 3–10
The Birth of Jesus
The King of the universe was born in a stable and laid in a feeding trough — because he came for everyone.
Big idea
Jesus came low so no one would ever be too low to come to him.
Read-aloud
1. A long trip
Mary and Joseph traveled to Bethlehem for a census. Mary was about to have a baby.
2. No room
Every inn was full. They ended up where the animals slept. That's where Jesus was born — the Savior of the world, in a barn.
3. Shepherds and angels
Nearby, shepherds were watching sheep. Angels lit up the sky: 'A Savior has been born! You'll find him lying in a manger.'
4. Everyone welcome
The shepherds ran to see. God's first invitation was to ordinary night-shift workers. Jesus came for everyone.
Memory verse
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
— Luke 2:11
