Mary Says Yes — a 5-minute devotion for Sorocaba families

Luke 1:26-38 · An ordinary yes to an impossible thing

An angel told a young woman in an ordinary town that she would carry the Son of God. She asked one honest question, then answered with her whole life: let it be to me as you have said.

This works best in Sorocaba as a bedtime reading. Lights low, Luke 1:26-38 read slowly, the memory verse said twice, then the prayer. Younger children fall asleep on "an ordinary yes to an impossible thing"; older ones usually want to argue about it first, which is fine.

Memory verse

“I am the Lord's servant. May your word to me be fulfilled.”
Luke 1:38

Table question

What is God asking you to say yes to this week?

30-second prayer

God, give us Mary's yes — honest questions first, then obedience. Amen.

Make it stick: on the way through Sorocaba tomorrow, one person says the first half of "I am the Lord's servant. May your word to me be fulfilled." and someone else finishes it. Three tries and it is memorised.

Tomorrow: Mary visits Elizabeth (Luke 1:39-56). ArkQuest queues the next reading automatically, so nobody has to decide what comes after tonight.
