The Good Samaritan — a 5-minute devotion for Uberlandia families

Luke 10:25-37 · Love measured in inconvenience

A man was beaten and left at the roadside. Two religious men crossed to the other side. A foreigner — the one nobody expected — stopped, bandaged his wounds, and paid for his care.

Families in Uberlandia tend to run this one at the dinner table. Read Luke 10:25-37 out loud while the plates are still down, ask the question once, and let the youngest answer first. It takes about five minutes and it does not need anyone to have prepared.

Memory verse

“Go and do likewise.”

Luke 10:37

Table question

Who did you walk past this week that you could stop for tomorrow?

30-second prayer

Jesus, make us the kind of family that stops. Show us one person to help tomorrow. Amen.

Make it stick: draw it. Younger children draw the moment in Luke 10:25-37 they remember; older ones write one sentence about why it bothered them. Stick both on the wall.

Tomorrow: Mary and Martha (Luke 10:38-42). ArkQuest queues the next reading automatically, so nobody has to decide what comes after tonight.
